Elevated PfR technology business value to the SVP Level in the ASR 1000 and ISR 3900/2900/1900 Series Routing Business Units and became part of the CCIE certification track.  

Drove IP SLA’s as the first cross platform IOS Technology as one of the first cross-os reusable software components in Cisco able run on IOS and other OS platforms including Linux for the Cisco Telepresence Systems, IOS-XR, and FreeBSD based systems and products. Designed and managed presales and technical marketing lab networks and servers including Solaris, Red Hat Linux, and Windows servers, EIGRP and OSPF LAN IP networks and ATM Network, GPS/NTP Time Servers, and all related systems services including Directory, FTP, TFTP, HTTP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, CIFS, and more. Expanded technology product demand worldwide allowing the 65% growth in engineering.

Expanded our IP SLA’s technology domain into L2 Metro-Ethernet performance OAM. Initiated and lead a 9 person virtual team for MEF OAM standards changes in the Metro-Ethernet Performance OAM domain consisting of Ethernet Software, CRS-1, ASR9000, C7600, ME3000, and MWR1900 Businesses and customers.

Expanded the cisco nms, open source, and commercial nms adoption of IP SLA’s through implementation of full snmp r/w interfaces. Secured IP SLAs performance monitoring enterprise and service provider industry wide distinction of being one of the only Cisco technologies to be both provisioned and monitored via snmp.

As TME and later Product Manager for the IOS Configuration Registrar Appliance (Cisco CNS Configuration Engine NMS Product), my responsibilities included the creation of Redhat (RHEL) Linux, NIS, DNS, IPTables, OS System Security, Disk RAID, HTTP/S, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), Tomcat Application Server, and Tibco technology setup, integration, troubleshooting, and deployment guides and embedded administrative Linux Shell Programs and Java Program tools for the end user, the Cisco support community, and the Cisco sales engineering teams. The CNS CE is a product that serves IOS Configurations via HTTP/S and integrates with the Tibco Rendezvous Service Bus technology targeted towards both stand alone deployments and direct customer EMS/NMS/OSS solution integration through SOAP/WSDL interfaces. I assumed Product Manager duties directed the business model change leading to successful continued product line. The Configuration Engine remains a viable product available today at Cisco. The hardware and systems included IBM eServer xSeries 330, 335, 336, 340, 346, running Red Hat Linux 9, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) versions 3,4 and 5, Apache with Tomcat application servers, Web Services (SOAP/WSDL), Tibco Rendezvous Enterprise Service Bus, and RAID Level 1 dual-disk technologies. The system has been scaled in fully redundant secured production environments to over 20 systems and 200K real-time managed devices.

Win NT, HP & Solaris Unix Systems Administrator, Architect, and Team Leader, Cisco [Consultant + Employee]

IT Lead for a support team responsible for administering 150+ nodes and 70+ users in a mixed Sun Solaris, HP-UX, Windows 2000, Windows NT v4.0 software development and test shop. I was recruited to be fully responsible for all systems security as Cisco was one of twelve companies worldwide to have licensed rights to all Windows 2000 source code from Microsoft. Provided key Architect, Design, and Implementation input for all production and test networks, servers, and services inside of a complex, high-security computing environment. Twice successfully led complete 4 day facility and team relocation operations of more than 36 production servers, 4 networks, 2 GRE Tunnels, 177 workstations, 9 LAN Printers and related services. Supported all daily operations of the software development team in a computing environment tooled around Rational Software’s Clearcase software. Hardware and Software systems included Sun Enterprise 3500 and 4500 servers, Sun Ultra 60, and 10 servers, Solaris OS 2.6, 2.7, and 2.8, NetApp Fabric-Attached Storage (FAS) through Data ONTAP (FreeBSD OS) Network Appliance Filers F520 and F740 serving as NFS, CIFS, FTP, and HTTP protocols, and Sun Store Edge 1000 systems, Dual 25kVA APC Symmetra Power Array’s in a N+1 hot-bypass design, HP-UX 11, 11i v1, Dual HP 9000 Series Servers.
